For the Common Good

My America is a land of make believe, a distant hope-filled future land that only exists in my heart and mind.

My America is a land of opportunity for all her citizens, a land of diverse beauty and richness unparralleled, where the citizens that control the power and resources freely participate and contribute, not for their own interest, but for the benefit of society.

My America doesn’t complain that some of her citizens need a helping hand, instead, my America aches that she hasn’t yet been able to provide the hand of help for those in need.

My America recognizes the alienating nature of religion vs. religion vs. religion, and my America choses to be a state for humanity.

My America doesn’t force her beliefs on others, my America strives to be the example others wish to emulate.

My America is filled with citizens who yearn to understand each other, more than they yearn to be understood.

My America meets a challenge to her conventional wisdom not with a closed fist, but with an open mind.

My America embraces individual freedom, combined with personal sacrifice for the common good.

I freely offer you my America, will you make it your America?
