Sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing …
These past four days, watching the Democratic Convention in Boston, have reignited my pride in our great country, and shown me that indeed, HOPE is on the way. John Kerry is going to be a legendary President. The man is a hero, and a role model. What a breathe of fresh air after these 4 years of the Bush Administration, and it’s utter and complete lack of integrity. John Kerry could have done anything, or nothing in his life, just as George W. Bush, he comes from a wealthy family. What a different road he chose to travel from the choices made by the current resident of the White House. John Kerry chose to serve his fellow man, and his country. I don’t normally dote over anyone, for we are all human, and are all falable. But John Kerry’s actions, inspire me, you can tell more about someone by their actions than their words.As a gay man, I’ve written before about how I felt united with my fellow citizens after 9/11, how gay, straight, black, white, Muslim, Hindu, Christian, Jew, Buddhist, and Atheist, all Americans were united. But since George W. Bush decided to betray his oath, and go it alone with a misguided pre-emptive war, that unity was shattered. George W. Bush, and his administration’s continuous use of language to shade the truth, and disguise their politics with false bravado, and propaganda techniques that would make WWII Germany proud, squandered all the goodwill we as a country had in the world. Driving friends and family members who honestly disagreed about the war and George’s “leadership” apart. In addition to his poor domestic record, George W. Bush will be held accountable for his part in dividing America.America is not what George W. Bush and Karl Rove spin and shape into their political power machine, NO, America is a much bigger ideal that is today breaking free from the shackles put on it by the attempted hijacking of American Patriotism by the radical conservative republican’s, and their leaders.America will once again be the land of liberty and justice for ALL, after she elects John Kerry President on November 2nd, 2004.
