Pumpkin Run - New PR

Oh, the weather outside was frightful, and the rain was not delightful…. but I ran and I ran, and I collided with the rain drops, I don’t think I missed a single one of them. And I smiled, every time I knew a camera was pointed in my direction, since in many of my previous race pictures I look like I’m about to collapse and die … I’ve been practicing … while running on my treadmill, I’ll get near the end of my run, and purposefully and thoughtfully, smile. Charlie calls it pulling a Tom DeLay … hehe … guess that’s an appropriate term ;)

Pulling a Tom DeLay

And there I was in the home stretch running around the track, and the timer came in to view, blurry, but it said either 26 or 28, for the minutes, and figured it was probably 28, since it had been such a nasty day to run, I thought for sure this wasn’t going to be a good race. But, as I got closer, it was 26, it was 26, oh my god, it’s 26, run boy run, my goal of beating 27 minutes was a few short seconds away… run boy run … and I sprinted a renewed sense of excitement, adrenaline rush, huge strides, and then, it ticked to 27 minutes, just feet from the finish line, NUTS! Damn! so close … but I’m still excited, I finished at 27:01 … a new record for myself, and beat my time in this race from last year by over 2 minutes! So all in all, lousy weather to run, so-so snacks, slow registration process, but new Personal Record, and smiling photos, I’ll chalk it up as a good day.Update: Official results say that I hit 27 minutes on the nose! Woo hoo!!
