Wordpress 2.5 upgraded easily
This being my first version upgrade of Wordpress since I transitioned to it from MovableType earlier this year, I have to say that I was a little apprehensive reading the warnings about making sure you have a backup - and having a little trepidation since I’ve done a bunch of custom stuff - including creating my own custom widgets for my sidepanels.
But I followed the directions, make sure you see the part about not over righting the wp-content folder when you upload the new version. Got the files uploaded, ran the upgrade.php file, and performed the upgrade - very easy.
The only issue I had was the Maintenance-mode plugin - I had installed prior to performing the upgrade - that worked fine - but after I finished uploading the new files - I couldn’t get to the upgrade.php page. To get around it - I renamed the maintenace-mode folder - which let me finally pull up the upgrade.php page.
One neat thing I’ve seen kicking the tires so far is the automatic activation of the plugins.
